ASLEC-ANZ: The Association for the Study of Literature, Environment and Culture, Australia and New Zealand, is is an affiliate of ASLE, an international, interdisciplinary organisation.
The purpose of ASLEC-ANZ is to share information and ideas on the human relationship with non-human ecologies through literature, the arts and humanities in Australia and New Zealand.
ASLECANZ aims to encourage ecologically informed scholarship, environmental critique and cultural practices in writing, art and film. Increasingly, it aims to support the way the arts and humanities are responding to climate change and the global erosion of biodiversity. Through these aims, ASLEC-ANZ also seeks to forge stronger connections between the humanities and sciences.
Membership to ASLEC-ANZ includes an annual Members Directory, a biannual newsletter, regular email updates on items of interest, a biennial conference, membership privileges at the ASLE (US) conference, and reduced subscription to their journal, ISLE.
Its peer-reviewed journal AJE (Australasian Journal of Ecocriticism and Cultural Ecology) is published through the National Library of Australia at http://www.nla.gov.au/openpublish/index.php/aslec-anz
